Sheryl Sinkow: Harold’s Square Windows

Downtown Ithaca Alliance’s initiative to activate the storefront windows on the Ithaca Commons and surrounding downtown locations with individual artists presenting their work. The Harold’s Square’s windows facing the Commons will be activated with photographs on canvas by Ithaca based photographer Sheryl Sinkow.

About her photographs Sheryl says: I have always had a passion for travel and for exploring other cultures; studying anthropology was a natural choice for my academic path. Over the years, I have had the good fortune to travel to remote and lesser-known locations, and photography has served as a way to preserve the memory of these unique experiences.

I began learning photographic processing and printing in black and white from negatives in the mid-1970s. I was taught by a graduate student in her Back Bay (Boston) loft, where I developed a strong foundation in traditional darkroom techniques.
