Media Arts Collective + Resource Exchange (MACRE) is a member-led creative ecosystem and media incubator based in downtown Ithaca, New York. Founded to replace traditional hierarchical models with collective stewardship and shared responsibility, MACRE operates as a collaborative home for independent artists, media makers, and community organizers. Grounded in principles of radical access and solidarity economy frameworks, the collective prioritizes resource-sharing—including 24/7 space access, production tools, a media lab, and peer mentorship—specifically focusing on amplifying historically underfunded voices and local creative work.

Now celebrating its one-year anniversary, MACRE acts as a dynamic community hub where individual practices cross-pollinate into shared public dialogue. The physical space continuously evolves to host workshops, independent media production, multi-disciplinary installations, and community exhibitions. By treating media creation and physical space as shared resources meant to be lived in, MACRE actively works toward becoming a member-owned cooperative, demonstrating at a local scale the cooperative, non-transactional creative environment its members wish to see in the wider world.
