Abey Mills: Music & street photography

Before telling you about my art I’d like to thank the people and organizations who made it possible. I'd like to thank my boss and the company who commissions me for most of my photos, Aaron Robbins and Nick Scollard of Practice At (a production company responsible for putting together most of Ithaca's local shows). Without them I wouldn’t be able to go to all of the shows I have (WELL over 50+ shows) and for them I am forever grateful. I'd also like to thank the venues in which a lot of these photos are taken at, Deep Dive, Nocturnal Cafe, Angry Mom Records Store, The Downstairs (RIP) and the Community School of Music and Arts, places like these are dying out and shutting down so I implore you to support your local venues and go see local music as much as you can! Remember to always tip your bartender!

That being said, I have been a true photographer for 2 years this coming February. I have always thought of myself as someone who wanted to make art of the beautiful revolution that is our local music scene which I was participating in for as long as I can remember. When I got sober I knew it was my time, I stole my sister's camera and hid behind my camera flash until I was found by the aforementioned Practice At. After that the rest is history and can forever be found in the SD card of my camera. As always thank you, observer, for letting me spread the magic of local community art!
